LEGO Festival of Play

Early in 2012 I was approached by OneGreenBean and asked to design an image that was going to be used as part of LEGO’s 50 years in Australia celebrations.

From the website:
We asked 10 Aussie creative personalities to think about what play meant to them and to use that inspiration to create a distinct image. We then transformed the images into large LEGO mosaics to form a giant outdoor public gallery for everyone to enjoy.

There are personal creations from fashion designers Romance Was Born, patissier Adriano Zumbo, paper engineer Benja Harney, tattoo artist and illustrator Simplesime and child artist Max Treffkorn, along with animator Fiona Dalwood, homeware and jewellery creators Dinosaur Designs, surface designer Saffron Craig, photographer Louise Whelan and craft designer Kitiya Palaskas.

Each mosaic was meticulously built by one of only 13 LEGO Certified Professionals in the world, Australia’s own Ryan McNaught, alongside a team of skilful helpers. He used almost 300,000 LEGO bricks and they took a month to complete!
